Welcome Baby!
Baby Campbell was born July 19, 2009 at home in water.  What a wonderful opportunity to test our new AQUABORN Eco Birth Pool first hand!  He is the first AQUABORN baby born in the US.

Once my contractions became regular and close together, my husband Aaron began filling the pool.  I was ready to jump in as soon as he got it filled.  I waited until our midwives arrived and then experienced that "aaahhhh" moment of settling in the water.  It was calming and peaceful to be buoyant.

The pool was sturdy, tough and best of all, comfortable.  During the birth I leaned on the sides, squeezed the walls during contractions and pulled on the handles with all my might.  Not to mention the bracing and pushing my legs were doing.  All the things a mom does during labor and delivery.  Once the birth was over, I realized how tough I was on the pool and it held up beautifully.   Our midwives commented on the pool's sturdiness and ideal size.

Aaron had the pool at a perfect 95 degrees when I got in.  He heated up the pool to 99 just before our baby made his entrance, using water off the stove.  My friend Abbey placed cold, lavendar infused wash clothes on my forehead which was heavenly and made the hotter water bearable.

The birth was an intense experience for me.  It was our second baby and things moved much faster than during the first.  I spent a very short two hours in the pool before our baby made his entrance.  I can still see our midwife laying Campbell on my chest and watching him take his first breath.  Amazing.
